Description and Basic Information ::

If you're looking for a museum with an unusual collection, you might consider paying a visit to the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum. Antonio Meucci filed a patent for the telephone in 1871, five years before Alexander Graham Bell. Giuseppe Garibaldi was his frequent houseguest, and a famed Italian freedom fighter. Some of the items you'll encounter at the museum include reproductions of Meucci's bell-shaped ear-pieces and a piano he made from willow branches, as well as Garibaldi's swords and red shirt. The museum offers great insight into two significant men in history, whose contributions seem to have fallen by the wayside. |
