:: Description and Basic Information ::
A traveling salesman visits the small town of River City, Iowa, and convinces the townsfolk to adopt his music program, which he claims will save them from the moral degradation into which the they are rapidly sinking. Of course, our salesman, who calls himself Professor Harold Hill, is a slick and smooth-talking con man, but he is also a softy underneath all the lies and disguises, as he unwittingly falls in love with the town librarian. Thus his conscience takes over and he finds himself in the midst of an unpleasant predicament. The score includes classics like 'Gary, Indiana,' 'Lida Rose,' and 'Seventy-six Trombones.'
